Possible Solutions:

Plug the cable into both the phone and the modem

Power on the phone

Phone driver may not be loaded correctly. Issue ATI4 from terminal mode in your communications software (see AT Commands). The resulting message should report the correct phone on the last line if the driver is loaded. Message:

When you attempt to dial a landline call with both the landline and cellular cables connected, you receive a NO DIALTONE (CELLULAR) message.

Possible Solution:

Remove the cellular cable and try again. When both landline and cellular cables are plugged in, the modem defaults to the cellular driver, ignoring the landline cable.

Symptom:

Cellular phone will not power up while plugged into the modem.

Possible Solutions:

Power up the modem by turning on the computer and inserting the modem into the PC Card slot. After the modem has power to it, you should be able to power up the phone as well.

If you want to make a voice call, disconnect the phone from the modem cable. The phone should power up as usual.

Symptom:

Motorola phone and the modem are both powered up, but the phone then powers down.

Possible Solutions:

Check the computer to see if the modem is still functioning. If not, reboot your computer.

If the modem has power, the phone's battery may be low. To check the battery status on the Motorola phone, press FCN+4 on the phone. The status should appear on the phone's display. Recharge the battery if necessary.

Symptom:

Cannot send or receive a cellular fax.

Possible Solutions:

Be sure to disable ECM mode in the fax software.

Change the fax class you are using. If you are using fax class 1, try class 2.0. If you are using class 2.0, try class 1.

Symptom:

Cellular communications do not work.

Possible Solution:

If you are using Windows 95 Service Pack 2, you may not be able to perform cellular communications. Service Pack 2 has power management features that turn the PC Card off when not in use. Upgrade to the latest Service Pack.
