I have switched service providers from cable to DSL PPPoE; what do I do?

  1. Start the Web User Interface of the Wireless MAXg Router by opening a Web browser and typing 192.168.2.1
  2. Click the Internet tab.
  3. Select your connection type as DSL modem (also known as PPPoE) and enter a User name and Password for Internet Login (PPPoE).



  4. You can select the checkbox for Disconnect if inactive for. You will then need to specify a timeframe. Selecting and setting a timeframe will cause your Internet connection to be disconnected if your Internet connection is not active for the amount of time you specified.
  5. Depending on your DSL ISP, you may need to enter some of the following information:
  6. If your ISP requires the use of the MAC address from your Network Interface Card (NIC) to identify you on their network, select the correct MAC address from the drop-down menu in the Clone MAC address section.



    To determine the MAC address of your NIC, perform the following steps:
  7. Windows XP, 2000, or NT Users: Click Windows Start and then Run. Type cmd and click OK. At the DOS prompt, type ipconfig /all. You will see all of the information regarding your network connection. The MAC address may be listed as the Physical Address.

    Windows Me, 98, or 95 Users: Click Windows Start and then Run. Type winipcfg and click OK. You will see all of the information regarding your network connection. The MAC address may be listed as the Physical Address.

  8. When you have entered all the appropriate information for your connection, click Save at the bottom of the page.
