The Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system provides access to the USB Telephone Adapter for managing recorded messages as well as configuring your telephone adapter. In addition, IVR provides access to Call Forwarding, Toll Bypass, and Voicemail.

The IVR system can be accessed from the local telephone handset as well as via calling in remotely. Not all features are supported in all modes (i.e. local access versus remote access).

Just Ring Handset Mode

By default, the telephone adapter is set to Just ring handset mode. When in this mode, all incoming calls will ring your telephone handset and no call handling services will be applied. After you make changes to enable administrative mode, voicemail, call forwarding, or toll bypass, you have to manually set your configuration back to Just ring handset mode to disable any other IVR or call handling services.

For example, if you enabled voicemail on incoming PSTN calls and now have an external answering machine that you wanted to answer incoming PSTN calls, you would need to set Incoming PSTN calls to Just ring handset mode.

  1. Right click the USB Telephone Adapter in the system tray and select Configure.

    System Tray Right-Click
  2. In the Configuration window, select the Call handling tab.
  3. To disable all call processing for incoming Internet calls, under Incoming Internet calls, select Just ring handset.

  4. To disable all call processing for incoming PSTN calls, under Incoming PSTN calls, select Just ring handset.

  5. Click Apply to save your settings.
  6. To close the Configuration window, click OK.

Administrative Mode

Administrative Mode enables remote telephone adapter access to acess features like voicemail and Toll Bypass.

For detailed information on configuring Voicemail, see the Voicemail Configuration section. For information on using Toll Bypass, see the Voicemail Tutorial section.

For detailed information on configuring Toll Bypass, see the Toll Bypass Configuration section. For information on using Toll Bypass, see the Toll Bypass Tutorial section.

Note: To use administrative mode, you must have your telephone adapter enabled for call forwarding or voicemail.

  1. Right click the USB Telephone Adapter in the system tray and select Configure.
