    54 Mbps XLerator Technology

Note:  To take full advantage of XLerator Technology, you must completely update your wireless infrastructure. It is recommended that you use the current utility to update the firmware. Once the firmware is updated, then update to the new utility. To do so, follow the procedures below in the order in which they appear.

    Configuration Utility Update- Version USR04_1.0a

Note:  It is critical that you update the AP Utility on all computers that it is running on. Using the new AP firmware with the old utility will NOT work properly.

If the AP utility has never been installed:

    1. Print these instructions.
    2. Download the USR04_1.0a_APUtility.exe file located at the bottom of the page.
    3. Double-click the USR04_1.0a_APUtility.exe file to start the installation process.
    4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

If you are upgrading your AP Utility:

    1. Print these instructions.
    2. Download the USR04_1.0a_APUtility.exe file located at the bottom of the page.
    3. Run the USR04_1.0a_APUtility.exe file and it will detect the previous version of the AP Utility.
    4. It will prompt you to uninstall the old version.
    5. Click Yes and complete the uninstallation process.
    6. Once it is uninstalled, you will be prompted to install the new version.

22 Mbps Wireless Access Point Firmware Update

Note: It is critical that the AP is assigned an IP Address before you try to update the software and firmware. Since the update process uses TFTP, a valid network IP Address will be required. A static IP address is NOT required, but the device should have at least attained a DHCP address. If you load the new utility without updating the firmware, you may be prompted to update the firmware. However, should this occur, you must have a working and valid IP address on the AP. If you load the new firmware without updating the utility, you will not be able to access the AP.

    1. Print these instructions.
    2. Download the USR_ap_50g_nml.bin file located at the bottom of the page.
    3. It is strongly recommended that you write down your settings for your device before upgrading. Once the upgrade is complete, the device will be set to manufacturers default.
    4. If you have updated the AP Utility and scanned your network for available APs, you may be prompted to update your AP if the new utility detects old firmware. If so, select Browse to locate the latest firmware file and update accordingly.
    5. If you are using the old version of the AP Utility, Log into the AP, select the Tools page, and select Browse to locate the new firmware file, USR_ap_50g_nml.bin. Once located, click Update.
