Disconnect your cable modem or DSL router and complete the installation procedure for the router.
When you have finished the installation procedure, start the router configuration pages by opening a Web browser and typing 192.168.2.1 and pressing ENTER.
Click the LAN tab.
Under IP Address, change the IP address of the router to 192.168.3.1 (or whatever IP address you want the router to have) and then click anywhere outside of the IP address field.
If you have DHCP Server enabled, it will automatically update the IP range to reflect the change you made to the IP address.
Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Release and renew your computer's network connection.
Windows Vista Users
Click Windows Start.
In the Search box, type Command Prompt and press ENTER.
In the resulting list, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
- Type ipconfig /release and press ENTER.
- Type ipconfig /renew and press ENTER.
Your computer should acquire an IP address (such as 192.168.2.5) from the router.
- Type exit and press ENTER.
- Continue to step 8.
Windows XP, 2000 and NT Users
- Click Windows Start > Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type cmd and click OK.
- Type ipconfig /release and press ENTER.
- Type ipconfig /renew and press ENTER.
Your computer should acquire an IP address (such as 192.168.2.5) from the router.
- Type exit and press ENTER.
- Continue to step 8.
Windows Me and 98
- Click Windows Start > Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type command and click OK.
- Enter winipcfg and press ENTER.
- Press Release.
- Press Renew.
Your computer should acquire an IP address (such as 192.168.2.5) from the router.
- Close the window.
- Continue to step 8.
After you have updated your IP information, connect your cable modem or DSL router to the WAN port of the router.
If you need to do any configuration for your cable modem or DSL router, refer to your DSL router documentation. You should now be able to access the Internet and your network resources.
Note: Whenever you need to access the router configuration pages, enter the new IP address that you just configured in Step 4.
