Some Internet applications can be interrupted by the audible signal of the incoming call or by interruption of the Internet session for a certain length of time. Such interruptions can disrupt data transfer or cause time-outs for some applications, such as file transfers. To avoid these interruptions, do not pick up incoming calls while running sensitive applications. If you are running a critical application, consider deactivating your Call Waiting for the session. Check with your telephone service provider for details. On some telephone networks, this is achieved by adding a special prefix before your ISP’s phone number in your Dial-up Networking properties. If you do not know what this prefix is, contact your telephone service provider.
