How do I configure Remote Management on my USR8054?

  1. Launch your Web browser. In the location or address line, type the address of the router's Web User Interface and press Enter. The default address is 192.168.123.254

  2. When the user name and password window appears, type in admin for the user name and type in the password you created. Click OK to load the router's setup page. There is no default password.

Note: If you have forgotten the password you created, click here for the factory default reset procedure.

  3. Click Management in the main menu.

  4. In the Remote Management section, select the Enable radio button.

  5. Note: The default remote management port is 8080, but can be changed if necessary. If the port number is modified, enter a port number that does not conflict with other well known services on your network. For example, do not enter port 80. This will conflict with an internal web server.

    Click Apply.

Note: If you want to limit the range of IP addresses that have access to your router from the Internet, you can specify a range in the Remote IP Range From section. In the following example, only the computers connected to the Internet with an IP address between 67.23.123.1 thru 67.23.124.254 will be able to remotely access the router.

You can also limit remote management to a single IP address by entering the IP address twice. For example, enter 67.23.123.1 To 67.23.123.1 in the Remote IP Range From section. Only the computer connected to the Internet with an IP address of 67.23.123.1 will be able to remotely access the router.

  6. Congratulations, you have successfully configured your router for remote administration and are now ready to access it from the Internet.
