My Wireless MAXg Access Point is not responding after I performed a firmware upgrade.

Possible Solution:

It is possible that the upgrade process was interrupted before you attempted to access the Web User Interface. Make sure you have waited two minutes and then try to access the Web User Interface.

Possible Solution:

Unplug and then plug back in the power supply of the Wireless MAXg Access Point. This will reboot the Wireless MAXg Access Point. Wait for 30 seconds before you attempt to access the Web User Interface of the Wireless MAXg Access Point.

Possible Solution:

Press in and hold the RESET button for between five and ten seconds. This will reset the Wireless MAXg Access Point to the factory default settings. If you applied any personal configuration settings, you will need to make the changes again or restore your settings if you created a backup file.

Possible Solution:

Your firmware image may have been corrupted during the upgrade procedure.

Windows XP, 2000, and NT users can perform the following semi-automated firmware upgrade procedure to install the firmware.

Note: The computer that you use for this procedure must be connected to your router with a network cable. The router must be connected to the LAN jack on the access point with a network cable.

  1. Open the Control Panel and double click Network Connections.
  2. Right-click the Local Area Connection of the network connection that connects the computer to the router and select Properties.
  3. On the General tab of Local Area Connection Properties, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
  4. Select Use the following IP address:
In this step you will specify a temporary static IP address for the network adapter. This address must be on the same subnet as your router and Wireless MAXg Access Point. For example, if your router's IP address is 192.168.2.1, enter 192.168.2.100 as the temporary IP address for your network adapter. If your router's IP address is different, use the first three xxx.xxx.x numbers from the router's address and change the fourth number to 100. Make sure that the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
    Click OK. Click OK.
  5. Locate the folder that you downloaded the firmware file to.
  6. Locate the Manual_Upgrade.cmd utility on the CD-ROM that came with your Wireless MAXg Access Point.
  7. Drag the firmware file onto the Manual_Upgrade.cmd utility icon and follow the on-screen instructions.

You must now set IP addressing for the network adapter back to "Obtain an IP address automatically."

  1. Open the Control Panel and double click Network Connections.
  2. Right-click the Local Area Connection of the network adapter that connects the computer to the router and select Properties.
  3. On the General tab of Local Area Connection Properties, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
  4. Select Obtain an IP Address Automatically and click OK. Click OK.
