If you use WEP to protect your wireless network, you need to set the same parameters for the Wireless ADSL2+ Router and all your wireless clients. WEP protects data transmitted between wireless nodes but does not protect any transmissions over your wired network or over the Internet.
WEP Mode: Select to use a 64-bit or 128-bit key for encryption.
Key Entry Method: Select Hex or ASCII code for encryption key generation.
Key Provisioning: Select Static if there is only one fixed key for encryption. If you want to select Dynamic, you need to enable 802.1x first.
To automatically generate the encryption key using a Passphrase:
Select Passphrase and enter a string of characters. The passphrase can consist of up to 32 alphanumeric characters.
Select the Default Key ID key.
Click SAVE SETTINGS.
To manually configure the encryption key:
In each of the Key fields, enter one of the following:
For a 64-bit key:
5 hexadecimal pairs of digits or 5 ASCII characters.
For a 128-bit key:
13 hexadecimal pairs of digits or 10 ASCII characters.
A hexadecimal digit is a number or letter in the range 0-9 or A-F.
