With the USB Telephone Adapter, you can enable Voicemail for incoming internet and PSTN calls. You can only enable Voicemail if you have Call Forwarding disabled. You can enable Voicemail without enabling administrative mode.

Note: If your computer goes into Standby or Hibernation mode, voicemail will not work. Verify that Disable standby/hibernate is selected in your voicemail configuration.

Answering Machine Mode (Voicemail)

Your USB Telephone Adapter can act as an answering machine, saving incoming Internet or PSTN calls to your computer. You can access any saved messages locally, or enable administrative mode to also access the messages remotely.

  1. Right click the USB Telephone Adapter in the system tray and select Configure.

  2. In the Configuration window, select the Call handling tab.
  3. To enable the answering machine (voicemail) for incoming Internet calls, under Incoming Internet calls, select Answering machine and select a number of Rings before response, which is the number of rings before the answering machine will pick up the call.


    Note: If you enable administrative mode, it will use the same number of rings as the answering machine before picking up. Calls will be sent to voicemail if administrative mode is not accessed within 5 seconds. Click for more information on administrative mode.

  4. To enable the answering machine (voicemail) for incoming PSTN calls, under Incoming PSTN calls, select Answering machine and select a number of Rings before response, which is the number of rings before the answering machine will pick up the call.
  5. Note: If you enable administrative mode, it will use the same number of rings as the answering machine before picking up. Calls will be sent to voicemail if administrative mode is not accessed within 5 seconds. Click for more information on administrative mode.

  6. Verify that the Disable standby/hibernate option is selected. If your computer goes in to sleep or hibernation mode,it will disable the ability of the USB Telephone Adapter to answer incoming calls.

  7. Click Apply to save your settings.
  8. To close the Configuration window, click OK.

 

Local Voicemail Access

Your USB Telephone Adapter will save all incoming Internet and PSTN voicemail to the computer connected to the telephone adapter. To access your voicemail using the handset connected to the telephone adapter:

  1. Pick up the attached telephone handset. An intermittent beep in the VoIP dial tone indicates new voicemail messages.
    If you hear the telephone dial tone, dial ## to get VoIP dial tone.
  2. When you are connected, dial * to enter administrative mode.
