The gateway provides configuration pages you can use to configure the gateway to meet your networking needs. The gateway configuration pages also let you view statistics in order to monitor network activity.
Under normal operating conditions, you do not need to change the basic configuration that you established when you installed your gateway. However, if your network environment changes, you may need to reconfigure your gateway to reflect the new environment. For example, you may need to change your configuration settings if you:
Want to use Firewall settings to restrict access to the internet for some devices.
Add settings for connecting a gaming console to your gateway.
Switch to a different Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Change your account with your ISP.
You may also need to disable the HTTP Proxy feature of your Web browser so the configuration pages will display the most current information.
Internet Explorer users:
Click Tools > Internet Options, and select the Connections tab.
Select Never dial a connection, then click Apply.
Click OK.
Click Tools > Internet Options, and select the Connections tab again.
Click the LAN Settings button.
Clear all the check boxes and click OK.
Click OK again.
Netscape Navigator 8.x users:
Click Tools > Options > General.
Click the Connection Settings button.
Select Direct connection to the Internet, and then click OK.
Configurable parameters have a text box or a drop-down list. Once a configuration change has been made on a page, click Save or you will lose your settings.
Depending on your ADSL connection settings, some menu items may not appear on your gateway configuration pages for options that you connection does not support.
The pages available in the gateway configuration are:
Status: Displays status information for your gateway and Internet service.
Internet: Use to configure or change your Internet connection settings.
LAN: Use to configure advanced settings for your LAN.
Wireless: Use to configure your wireless settings.
Security: Use to configure your security settings, and change the login information for your gateway.
Device: Use to manage, backup and restore your device settings, update your firmware, etc.
